Oh wow! I once had a pastor tell me that running "his" church was not personal -it was business. That about broke my heart. I think that's where things started going wrong, for sure. I agree about the politics too and was just reading some writings from William Temple. He explains that as Christians we have a moral obligation to call out things in our society but unless we are skilled and educated in those areas we can't dictate how they should be resolved. Unfortunately, Christians have reversed this and believe that they can dictate how politics, medicine, education etc should be managed simple because they have a scripture to reference and a smart phone.
