My Word for 2020: Abandon

I’ve been letting go
Opening my hands
a little here, more there,
letting cares slip through
and expectations
fall to the ground.

Giving up the need for certainty
and approval —
the grip that’s held on far too long.

And now to abandon,
to be lost in Spirit,
found in Spirit,
open and exposed,
all pretense lost
and only freedom gained.

Abandoned to love and
free to be His.

Openly adored.
