I'm horrified this still exists. I remember a teacher in elementary school who was physically and verbally abusive. I didn't have her, thank God, but we all feared her. She overturned desks and embarrassed little 2nd graders. In Jr. High they paddled the boys and it was abusive. I saw them push kids up against the wall and off the ground with their hands around their necks. How did our parents allow this???
