Hi Sam Bardon, I would recommend allowing her to use different mediums - perhaps she can write her letters in shaving cream on the table. You can say the letter and see if she can write it. That would be assessing her alphabet skills. Use pictures to assess sounds. Print pictures (not words) and ask her to circle the one that begins with p (say the "p") sound etc. For comprehension maybe she could act out the story so you can assess if she understood the sequence of events. Ask her to draw a scene from the story. Cut up a series of events from the story and have her put them in order. I hope these help.
